Try An Ice-Skate Date

Baby it's cold outside! But don't use that as an excuse to stay on the couch eating peppermint Oreos. Grab your sweetie or a wanna-be-beau and try this active alternative to the average dinner and a movie.

Ice-skating can burn anywhere between 300 and 500 calories an hour, depending on your weight and how fast you're going.* And if you thought it was reserved for snowy cities or the Rockefeller Center, you'll be surprised to find out that L.A. has a ton of places to blade:

ICE at Santa Monica This large rink charges $10 to get in, including your skate rental. It's located right by 3rd Street Promenade so you can pop into J. Crew beforehand and pick up a cozy scarf to stay warm.

Pershing Square Downtown Open everyday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It's $6 to skate and $2 for rentals. It's also walking distance to L.A. Live, so if you haven't gotten enough of a burn, head over to The Conga Room for some salsa dancing after.

Chill at the W For a more posh environment, try this Westwood Hotel to see and be seen. Although they don't have real ice, the lively atmosphere is fun for a first date. But beware of their decadent drinks. Though the sugar-packed Adult Hot Chocolate sounds fabulous, it will set you back on all the calories you burned skating!

For a more weight conscious concoction, head home and enjoy a cup of Swiss Miss Diet Hot Chocolate. It tastes just as good as regular hot chocolate, but only has 25 calories. You can also mix it with coffee in a thermos before your date for a jolt of energy mid-skate.

Don't weight to try this date!
