Magical Hike In Malibu

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend and I went on the most amazing hike in Malibu.

The Mishe Mokwa Trail is an approximatey 7 1/2 mile loop that takes you to a series of lookout points with incredible views, climaxing at Sandstone Peak, which is the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. From the 3111 foot peak you can see all the way from Catalina Island to Santa Barbara.

Along the way you'll wind through wooded glens with avalanches of ladybugs and pass massive mountain sides where courageous climbers creep up the cliff walls.
Though 7 miles may seem daunting it is only an intermediate hike and suitable for anyone in good health. It should take about 2 to 3 hours and the difficulty will depend on the route you travel. There are many different trails in the area and it can be a bit confusing which way to go. This article provides a pretty good overview of the various options.

To get there take the PCH to Yerba Buena Road. About a mile down you'll come to the Circle X Ranch, the parking lot is about another mile past that.
