Roll Out...Of the Gym

One of the coolest products I got to try out at the Los Angeles Times Magazine's Beauty, Health, and Wellness event this weekend was a hybrid of the traditional elliptical machine.

The Street Strider is an elliptical on wheels that moves at speeds up to 30 miles per hour.

Unlike it's stationary sister this crazy contraption leans side to side, engaging your core muscles and giving you a total body workout.

According to it's creator, the Strider burns double the calories of a traditional bike (over 1000 an hour), and about a 1/3 more than the average elliptical.

And at $1,299 it costs way less than the typically $3,000 EFX Percor used at my gym.

Check out my interview with the inventor:

These babies are perfect for cruising along the beach. But you may question how someone who lives in a big city could benefit from such a bulky bike.

Well, you can also purchase a stand for your strider and use it indoors. Multi-functional and fun!

I'm thinking Christmas present...Dad, are you reading this?
