The Benefits of Saying Goodbye to the Gym

I quit...the gym, that is.

I received a free six month pass to Sports Club L.A. a while ago, and canceled my membership at Gold's Gym to exclusively workout at this Beverly Hills hotspot.

But when my membership expired last week, I realized there was no way I could afford to continue this lavish workout lifestyle.

With memberships at Sports Club ($180 per month) and Equinox ($150 per month) reaching exorbitant heights, and my lazy butt often choosing alternative fitness activities to a traditional gym jam, it's just ludicrous for me to pay that to go maybe once a week.

Instead, I plan on spending the summer making the most of our God given exercise resources.

I'll do Runyon Canyon yoga...

I'll hit up local hikes...

I'll ball it up a bit...

I'll do home strength training routines...

and I'll go for sunrise/sunset runs in my neighborhood.

Obviously when winter approaches and it gets cold, most of these outdoorsy activities will no longer be appealing.

But for now, I'm going to take advantage of this beautiful California weather and the extra cash in my pocket!

Weigh in: Do you belong to a gym? If so, how much are you willing to pay for a membership?
