The best bar in Hollywood

This weekend was Bon Appetit's Los Angeles Grub Crawl, a three day food and drink bonanza of the best eats across the city, sponsored by Belvedere Vodka.

Friday covered Downtown, Sunday covered Culver City/Venice, and Saturday (the one I went on) covered Hollywood.

I'd like to think that I am "in the know" about all the best restaurants and bars in this area -- as I've been out here for about 5 years now -- but I was pleasantly surprised to find some new amazing spots.

Our first stop was at a cute little patio in the back of Sunset's Thai street food joint, Night + Market.

Though I couldn't try any of the dishes (they were all pork and I don't eat pork for relational reasons), I was told by fellow crawlers that it was the best grub on the whole tour.

The next stop on the tour was a hidden Parisian style cocktail lounge on Melrose called Pour Vous. It was chic and moody and really made you feel like you had just slipped into another era.

We sipped champagne cocktails with names like the Zu Be Zu (insert Mad Men shout out) and shot chilled oysters. It was faaaabulous dahling.

Over at Susan Feniger's STREET (I take back what I said knowing the best spots since I hadn't been here before), I had the most delicious shrimp rolls and spicy deviled eggs.

Those were washed down with an amazing Bourbon Basil Sour (I don't even like whiskey!) and complimented by a delicious, crunchy mango and lentil salad.

Definitely going back here.

The next, and I must say my favorite spot, was Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Now, I've been the the Roosevelt plenty of times and love their wild summer pool scene and hip bar Teddy's, but I'd never been to this new bar before.

It is awesome. While sipping the tastiest cocktail of all time--a fresh watermelon/gin concoction--you can play board games and go bowling.

I have a mild case of A.D.D., so standing around drinking at a bar just doesn't do it for me. I have to be DOING something.

What's more fun than a raucous game of Jenga and gin? Spare Room is officially my new favorite bar in Hwood.

The crawl culmintaed in a concert by Vactioner at the Roxy powered by Belvedere Lemon Tea.

Thank you Bon Appetit for introducing me to these awesome spots!
