The Real Deal

Spinning class is undoubtedly an amazing workout that torches calories and tones your tush. But in all honesty, the immobile equipment in no way feels like an actual bike ride.

Introducing the closest thing to racing with Lance Armstrong: Real Ryder Cycling.

The Real Ryder bike tilts and leans just like a real bike, burning 600-800 calories per hour (about 200-300 more than a stationary machine). It also engages muscles you wouldn't work in a traditional cycling class.

I tried out this badass bike for the first time this week, and boy did I feel the difference. Being able to twist and turn while conquering imaginary mountains really added excitement to the workout, and kept me engaged.

The instructor takes you through a 50-minute route comprised of "hills and curves," and set to an upbeat soundtrack.

Not only is it a great cardio exercise, but it will also satisfy your strength training for the day since the unstable bike engages your arms, abs, and legs the entire ride.

I tried it at their flagship store in Brentwood, but facilities featuring Real Ryder are located all over the U.S. Click here to find out if there is a location near you.

If not, you can always buy a bike for your home. Pop in "Paris, Je T'aime" while you ride, and you can brag to your friends that you did the Tour de France!
