There are oh so many reasons that my workout often gets overlooked.
At 6 a.m. before work, it's too cold to run outside and the gym is too far. At 6 p.m. after work I'm too tired and have too much to do.
What's a working woman to do? Skip munching for lunchtime crunching.
With a brand new hour-long circuit class located in the heart of Lala land, it's now easier than ever.
Lunch Crunch, created by Rob Dionne, is a mid-day "boot camp" for people in the area with their lunch hour free (be it aspiring actors, or business professionals).
At the La Brea Tarpits, just above the George C. Page Museum, Rob takes participants through a series of 1-2 minute circuits.
Some of the intense exercises include "Spiderman Crawls" up the hillside, single arm chest press throws against the cement wall, and various plank moves facing the park.
Though the short intervals don't sound that severe, the complaints of the participants make it clear that this workout isn't for wussies.
But Rob clarifies that he keeps the intervals short so that everyone can go at their own pace.
Those in better shape will complete more reps in the period than those still learning, yet everyone does the routine together.
Depending on your weight and height, he says you can burn anywhere from 500-800 calories a session!

Rob says he also changes the muscle group focus every class, to ensure a total body workout. And he throws in individual competitions, races, and games to keep people excited and motivated.
But that's not all. Rob's associate Christy Meyers also gives nutrition lectures and offers diet plans for classgoers.
Your first class is free. Just email Rob@OpenSkyFitness.com to try it!
Now you might be saying, "I don't have time to get from work, to the park, do a one hour workout, and then get back to work (and be sweaty)."
If you have a tight schedule, you're in luck. Rob is currently developing classes that are only 30 minutes long. Perfect time for you to get there, and back, and take a perfume shower in between.
Also, just because you're not in the L.A. area, doesn't mean you can't benefit from the Lunch Crunch idea.
Head to a park near your work and do your own circuit training. Or simply bring your sneakers to work, change at your desk, and take a brisk 30 minutes stroll on your break.
Every little bit counts.
