Tonight I played my first game of Squash in about 20 years!
For those unfamiliar with the sport, you can read about it on Wikipedia, where it states that "In 2003, Forbes rated squash as the number one healthiest sport to play".
My good friend Nick, who has been playing Squash at a competitive level since University, introduced me to the game over 25 years ago. Thanks to his excellent shot placement, he has always made me run my butt off on the court.
Tonight Nick still showed his skills and gave me a great run! To my surprise I found that although my skills were a little rusty after so many years, they were coming back quickly. Also, my speed, agility and (especially) my conditioning were as good, if not better, 20 years later!
To me, this is another testament to the effectiveness of the training I have been doing for the past 7 years. A "Crossfit" approach to training proves to develop and maintain the athletic ability to participate in activities at an above average level with relative ease, despite not having participated in a very long time. That's why I love it so much and will continue with it for as long as I live.
I was also reminded tonight of how much I love the game of Squash and look forward to playing more regularly. Thank you Nick!
