Nuts and Phytic Acid

Nuts and seeds are a nutritious source of good fat and make an excellent snack. However they should be consumed in moderation as they contain Phytic Acid, which can interfere with the absorption of important minerals.

The surprising thing is that you would have to eat a very large quantity of nuts to consume the equivalent amount of Phyctic Acid that is found in grains and legumes!

Bottom line .... treat nuts as a snack, not a meal.
