Many people want to make a change in their lifestyle, particularly when it comes to "diet", but there always seems to be a reason (a.k.a. excuse) for not being able to "start now".
Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are always a good "reason" for consuming foods and beverages that have detrimental effects on a "diet". Not to mention birthday parties, anniversaries, and the summer long BBQ / Beer Drinking Fiesta ... 'cause there is no way any good Canadian can go through the summer without consuming large quantities of Molson Canadian or Bacardi Breezers! ;)
For these reasons, I have picked this time of year to be a reasonably good time to throw down the gauntlet and challenge you to spend a month avoiding all those things that are thwarting your efforts to lose weight, get healthier, feel better, and increase your performance.
Do yourself a big favor and ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE! You have a break now between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and you can start the program by avoiding all that sugary poison handed out at Halloween!
It may be a little extreme, but it's only 30 days of your life and could make a difference on how you live the rest of your life. A bold statement, but people simply do not know how lousy they are really feeling or performing until they eliminate those things that are making them feel that way. They just get used to feeling lousy and shrug it off to ..... whatever!
Ever notice how much better an engine performs after a proper, long overdue tune up? Take this opportunity to give yourself a "tune up" and see what a difference it makes. What have you got to lose? You can always go back to feeling lousy (after the challenge) if you don't like feeling better. ;)
"You want to do this. You need to do this. And we believe that you can do this. So stop thinking about it, and start doing. Right now, this very minute, tell someone that you are starting the Whole30. Tell your spouse, tell your best friend, commit on our Whole30 forum and prove to us – and yourself – that you are committed."
